The olive trees leaned close to him, as Jesus bowed to pray.
Savior, on his knees will say, “Father, have your way.”
“I want this cup to pass from me,” In agony he moaned.
But His brokenness had to be, for he had always known.
The suffering of the cross lay before him.
His blood would be demanded to pay the price for sin.
He was bruised, he was scourged,
He was crushed beyond belief,
Sent to die for our shame bear the weight of all our grief.
As the prophets prophesied he was beaten and so marred.
But the only thing broken, the only thing broken was his heart.
Pilot gave the verdict, then he washed his hands.
Jesus would be crucified to quiet their demands.
On the cross they lifted up his body racked with pain.
He was reviled, he was rebuked, they cursed and mocked his name.
Greater than the anguish of his body that day,
Was the sorrow deep in his eye as the father turned away.
