PASSION HEALING STRENGTH BEAUTY FREEDOM CREATIVITY COMPASSION LOVE HOPE FAITH PATIENCE COURAGE UNDERSTANDING PEACE

PASSION – Music should strike fire from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman.

HEALING – Find a need and fill it. Find a hurt and heal it.

STRENGTH – Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probably reason why so few people engage in it.

BEAUTY – Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons, and you will find that it is to the soul what the water-bath is to the body.

FREEDOM – Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

CREATIVITY – Life isn’t about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself.

COMPASSION – Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.

LOVE – It’s the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter.

HOPE – The harder the course, the more rewarding the triumph.

FAITH – Sorrow looks back. Worry looks around. Faith looks up.

PATIENCE – Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself.

COURAGE – Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them — every day begin the task anew.

UNDERSTANDING – They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

PEACE – We navigate our whole lives using words. Change and improve the words and I believe we can change and improve life.

We all have needs.

We all have weaknesses. Take what you need from here and share the rest with your friends. The world needs hope, love, peace and so much more. There are people that only you can reach with this message. Share it. Give it. Be it. You are whom you decide to become.

Happy Thanksgiving

The Only Thing Broken Was His Heart

Brian Free and Assurance

The olive trees leaned close to him, as Jesus bowed to pray.

Savior, on his knees will say, “Father, have your way.”

“I want this cup to pass from me,” In agony he moaned.

But His brokenness had to be, for he had always known.

The suffering of the cross lay before him.

His blood would be demanded to pay the price for sin.

He was bruised, he was scourged,

He was crushed beyond belief,

Sent to die for our shame bear the weight of all our grief.

As the prophets prophesied he was beaten and so marred.

But the only thing broken, the only thing broken was his heart.

Pilot gave the verdict, then he washed his hands.

Jesus would be crucified to quiet their demands.

On the cross they lifted up his body racked with pain.

He was reviled, he was rebuked, they cursed and mocked his name.

Greater than the anguish of his body that day,

Was the sorrow deep in his eye as the father turned away.

He was bruised, he was scourged,

He was crushed beyond belief,

Sent to die for our shame bear the weight of all our grief.

As the prophets prophesied he was beaten and so marred.

But the only thing broken, the only thing broken was his heart.

He was bruised, he was scourged,

He was crushed beyond belief.

Sent to die for our shame bear the weight of all our grief.

As the prophets prophesied he was beaten and so marred.

But the only thing broken, the only thing broken was his heart.

Music is a science.

It is exact, specific; and it demands exact acoustics. A conductor’s full score is a chart, a graph which indicates frequencies, intensities, volume changes, melody and harmony all at once and with the most exact control of time.

Music is mathematical.

It is rhythmically based on the subdivisions of time into fractions which must be done instantaneously, not worked out on paper.

Music is a foreign language.

Most of the terms are in Italian, German or French; and the notation is certainly not English but a highly developed kind of shorthand that uses symbols to represent ideas. The semantics of music is the most complete and universal language.

Music is history.

Music usually reflects the environment and times of its creation, often even the country and/ or racial feeling.

Music is physical education.

It requires fantastic coordination of fingers, hands, arms, lip, cheek and facial muscles, in addition to extraordinary control of diaphragmatic, back, stomach, and chest muscles, which respond instantly to the sound the ear hears and the mind interprets.

Music is all these things, but most of all, music is art.

It allows a human being to take all of these dry, technically boring (but difficult) techniques and use them to create emotion.
That is one thing science cannot duplicate; humanism, feeling, emotion, call it what you will.

That is why we teach music.

Not because we expect our students to major in music
Not because we expect them to play or sing all their life
Not so they can relax
Not so they can have fun.
But so they will be human
So they will recognize beauty
So they will be sensitive
So they will be closer to an infinite beyond this world
So they will have something to cling to
So they will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good
- – in short, more life.
Of what value will it be to make a prosperous living unless you know how to live?

That is why we teach music.
